Move over, Michael Symon, watch out, Rachael Ray.
The six North Royalton ward councilmen will step out into the culinary spotlight when they show off their mad kitchen skills at a pizza bake off next week.
Each councilman will be provided with all the pizza staples needed to bake the average pie. However, councilmen may bring in their own secret ingredients to wow the judges - Mayor Bob Stefanik and Council President Larry Antoskiewicz.
The council president said he's looking for something a bit out of the norm that tickles the taste buds.
"Since we have a lot of amateur chefs, I'll be looking for originality. I want to see if some of these guys can be creative, or if they have their own little homemade touch they want to add to it. Something out of the ordinary. Well, I hate to say out of the ordinary, because I have to eat the thing. Let's just say original," Antoskiewicz laughed.
Ward 4 Councilman Paul Marnecheck said he will be bringing his A game and warns his colleagues to do the same if they don't want to be bested by his superb dish.
"In my extensive bachelorhood, I sampled the finest fare from our local eateries, and I am going to weave my ingredients into a culinary masterpiece that chef Boyardee himself couldn't beat. I challenge my culinary competitors to bring their A game. This is not a time to spread sauce and cheese on bread and call it a pizza," the councilman joked.
The event is planned for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at 82nd Street Grill and Pub, located at 6031 Royalton Road.
The public is encouraged to attend.
