Donation boxes will be in various locations in the southwest area suburbs in hopes of gathering much-needed items for Care Alliance, a non-profit medical clinic serving homeless and low income families in Cleveland for over 25 years.
The Care Alliance Outreach Team does its best to give clients the items they need, such as dry socks after being treated for frostbite, but they need the help of the community to supply these items. Spread the Warmth is the second area drive being held for Care Alliance to collect new or gently worn socks, gloves and stocking hats.
"The first year we collected hundreds of much needed items," said spokesperson for Spread the Warmth, Kathy Teuscher. "It was great to see everyone get on board in the community. We received calls from Scout troops and schools looking to join in our efforts and use it as their own community service project. We are hoping to double our efforts for our second drive. It is definitely warranted, over 72 percent of the patients at Care Alliance are homeless and approximately 95 percent are living well below the Federal Poverty Level."
Share the Warmth runs through the end of February. Donation boxes are located at Starbucks (18062 Royalton Road) Keller-Williams Realty, (18318 Pearl Road) and Westwood Mini-Storage, (20819 Westwood Drive) in Strongsville and Starbucks (6780 Ridge Road), Parma.
